The 46th edition of Bangkok International Motor Show has now opened with several new launches and a government support program aimed directly at small business owners in need of new vehicles.
The pickup segment is in focus thanks to the new program Pick Up With Government Guarantee, which offers government-guaranteed loans totaling 5 billion baht for the purchase of transport vehicles. The goal is to strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises' access to vehicles at a time when many are being denied bank loans.
The automotive industry hopes for a recovery
Toyota Motor Thailand estimates that the program could lead to a 15–20 percent increase in sales, after vehicle loan rejections increased to between 30 and 40 percent.
Although Isuzu motors has welcomed the initiative, but stresses that implementation must be clear and effective to have a real impact.
Locally produced vehicles are prioritized
The program is expected to benefit the domestic automotive industry, as more than 90 percent of pickup truck parts are manufactured in Thailand. The support is designed to stimulate both sales and domestic production.
Exhibition open to the public
The Bangkok Motor Show officially runs from March 26 to April 6, showcasing cars, motorcycles and accessories from leading manufacturers. Interest in this year's show is high, both from industry players and consumers.
