2025-03-29

Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2025 is now open to new entries from around the world. The competition welcomes both professional and amateur photographers and aims to combine joy and humor with an important message about protecting wildlife and their habitats.

The competition was founded by photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam, who wanted to create a more accessible way to engage people with conservation issues. By showing animals in unexpected and comical situations, the organizers hope to reach a wide audience – while raising awareness of the threats to our biodiversity.

The competition is also supported by partners such as the Born Free Foundation, Whitley Fund for Nature and Nikon, all of whom share a strong commitment to animals and nature.

The deadline for submitting images is June 30, 2025.
It is free to participate, and photos can be submitted via the competition's official website:
www.comedywildlifephoto.com

Entries are judged in several categories, including terrestrial animals, birds, aquatic animals, portfolio entries and mobile camera photos. The winner will be announced in October and will receive not only the honor and international attention, but also a Nikon camera package and a grant to a conservation organization.

In connection with the opening of this year's competition, we would like to take this opportunity to share our previous article where we showcase some of the most notable images from Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2024.

About the article image
The article is illustrated with the image “Awkward smiley frog"by" Kingston Tam from Hong Kong, who won Nikon Young Photographer Category (Under 25) i Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2024.

Kingston has been a passionate photographer since childhood and is currently studying wildlife science in Australia. His picture humorously shows that not only fluffy animals can be charming.

Final favorite from the 2024 competition:
Tapani Linnanmäki from Finland won Affinity Photo 2 People's Choice Award i Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2024 with the picture "Shake ruffle rattle and roll".

The picture captures a sea eagle in a comical moment when it ruffles its feathers – as if it’s trying to make itself look extra big or just having a bad feather day. The photograph was taken with a Nikon Z9 camera, which was placed directly on the sea ice on top of a bag of nuts – perfectly level with the eagle’s eye level.

"I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the picture – there were more than ten funny poses in the same series,” says Linnanmäki.

This is one of the editorial team's favorites from this year's competition - both thanks to the visual expression and the story behind it.
