Starting May 1, 2025, all international travelers will be required to complete a Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) prior to arrival. This requirement applies whether you’re traveling by air, land, or sea. Here’s everything you need to know for a smooth entry.
What is TDAC?
TDAC stands for Thailand Digital Arrival Card and replaces the previous paper form that was sometimes handed out on board the aircraft. The new digital version aims to simplify the entry process and increase efficiency at border controls.
TDAC must be completed online and is a mandatory requirement starting May 1, 2025.
When and how should TDAC be completed?
Travelers can complete the TDAC through the official website: https://tdac.immigration.go.th
The form is free and can be completed no earlier than 72 hours before arrival in Thailand.
If you try to fill it in earlier, the calendar will be locked – this is normal.
It is also possible to fill out the TDAC upon arrival, but it is recommended to do so in advance to avoid queues and delays at border control. You will need to provide, among other things:
- Your personal data and passport information
- Travel date and arrival flight or border crossing
- Your first address in Thailand (e.g. hotel)
Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a QR code via email. This must be presented at immigration control.
What happens if you forget to fill out TDAC?
If you have not completed the TDAC before arrival, you can do so at the border, but this may involve:
- Delays at passport control
- Risk of longer queues and waiting times
- Possible additional checks
To avoid problems, it is recommended to always fill out the TDAC well in advance of departure.
Does TDAC also apply at land borders and boat trips?
Yes, the TDAC requirement applies no matter how you travel in in Thailand – by plane, land or boat.
However, there are some exceptions:
- Travelers with border crossing (e.g. residents of border areas) do not need to complete the TDAC.
- People who only transiting through Thailand without passing through immigration also do not need to fill out the form.
