Thailand and China strengthen cooperation with new agreements

Thailand and China celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations, and cooperation between the two countries is now entering a new phase. Prime Minister Phaethongthan Chinnawat is visiting China to sign a series of important agreements that will strengthen trade, infrastructure and strategic partnerships.

Strengthened trade and investment

During his visit to Peking meets the Prime Minister Chinese President Xi Jinping as well as several high-ranking Chinese leaders. The focus is on expand trade and investment, and both countries have agreed to improve trade flows to benefit the economy in the region.

Several agreements have been signed in sectors such as:

• Transport and infrastructure – Development of high-speed trains between Thailand, Laos and China
• Financial services – Strengthened cooperation in digital economy and fintech
• Agriculture and food – Simplified export processes for Thai products to the Chinese market
• Tourism and education – Increased exchange of students and researchers between the countries

Thailand-China-Laos high-speed rail project

One of the most significant projects is the expansion of the high-speed train which will connect Thailand, Laos and ChinaThis railway is expected streamline transportation and strengthen trade between the countries. Prime Minister Phaethongthan emphasizes that the project is part of Thailand's long-term goal to improve regional infrastructure and logistics.

Fighting cybercrime and transnational crime

Another important item on the agenda is cooperation against cybercrimeWith increasing problems linked to call center fraud and digital crime networks operating at the border between Thailand and Myanmar, Thailand wants help from China's experience in cybersecurity.

The countries have decided to:

• AI and technique to combat cybercrime
• Increase judicial cooperation and exchange of information about criminal networks
• Develop joint police operations against organized crime in the region

Thailand strengthens its position in Asia

The visit marks a new era for bilateral relations between Thailand and China. By strengthening cooperation in trade, technology and security, Thailand is positioning itself as a important economic player in Asia.

Prime Minister Phaethongthan Chinnawat concludes his visit to Harbin, where she participates in the official opening ceremony of Asian Winter Games 2025 and visits Harbin Ice and Snow World.
