Prime Minister focuses on water management and tourism during visit to Northeast Thailand

Prime Minister of Thailand Paetongtarn Shinawatra will visit Khon Kaen and Maha Sarakham provinces tomorrow (December 20) to review government policies with a particular focus on water management and regional development. The visit is part of the government's strategy to deal with local challenges and strengthen economic growth.

During the visit, the Prime Minister, along with Teerarat Samrejvanich and Jiraporn Sindhuprai, to monitor the plans to deal with droughts and floods at Huai Nam Khem D5 River Gate in Kosum Phisai District of Maha Sarakham. Officials from the Royal Department of Irrigation will provide information on efforts to reduce flooding in the Chi River catchment and improve long-term water management.

The Prime Minister will also inspect the progress of the program "One District, One Scholarship (ODOS)", which provides scholarships to talented students. At Maha Sarakham University, she will visit the site of a community development project aimed at strengthening the local economy and promoting equitable education.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will inaugurate "Onson Long Drum Festival" in Wapi Pathum District. This festival is a celebration of Maha Sarakham province's rich cultural heritage and is part of the government's strategy to promote tourism through traditional events. The festival, which celebrates the tradition of long drums, is an important part of the province's cultural identity and attracts both domestic and international visitors.

This visit highlights the government's commitment to integrating regional culture and local initiatives into the national economic agenda, while focusing on solving water management problems and supporting education and tourism.
