Comment

After several weeks of gains, currencies have shown a clear slowdown against the Thai baht this week. The US dollar (USD) and the Swedish krona (SEK) fell by just over -2,03% and -1,61% respectively, while the euro (EUR) and the British pound (GBP) lost around -2,45%. Chinese yuan (CNY) and Indian rupee (INR) also fell slightly.

According to several analysts, the decline reflects continued global concerns about the economic consequences of the US's hastily implemented and often unclear trade barriers. The market is also affected by signals that interest rate cuts in the world's major economies may take longer than expected. Together, this creates an uncertain and unpredictable environment that causes both investors and currencies to react in the short term.

What course do we use?

We use the Bank of Thailand's official digital transfer buying rate, which is the actual rate used for transactions within Thai banks. This rate is most relevant for tourists and expats exchanging or sending money to Thailand via financial services.
